Some trams go no further than Parnell. The stop is the most northerly point of the Green Line’s one-way loop through the city centre, and just east of it the two tracks come together at a junction; trams that started at Sandyford turn there and go straight back the way they came, showing Parnell on their destination board, while through services carry on north towards Broombridge.

Its single platform sits on the north side of the tracks, built into the pavement of Parnell Street between the junctions with O’Connell Street and Marlborough Street, near the Parnell Monument. The stop opened in 2017 with Luas Cross City and serves the Gate Theatre, the James Joyce Centre, the Hugh Lane Gallery, the Dublin Writers Museum and Mountjoy Square. Trams run on to Dominick and Brides Glen at the far ends of the line.
