An island platform is a rarity on the Luas — Dominick is one of only three stops that has one, with the trams passing on either side instead of drawing up at two separate kerbs. It opened in 2017 on Dominick Street Lower as part of Luas Cross City, the Green Line’s extension through the city centre and on to Broombridge.

South of the stop the trams turn left onto Parnell Street and into the centre; north of it they keep to Dominick Street on their way towards Broadstone. The platform serves the Rotunda Hospital, the restored Georgian house and museum at 14 Henrietta Street and the Bolton Street campus of what is now the Technological University Dublin, as well as the shopping streets a little to the south. Trams run on to Parnell and Broadstone – University.
