Westmoreland dates from 2017 and Luas Cross City, the extension that took the Luas Green Line on from St Stephen’s Green through the centre to Broombridge. It stands on Westmoreland Street immediately south of O’Connell Bridge, about as central a position as the network has.

It is also only half a stop, by design. Through the city the Green Line runs as a one-way pair, and Westmoreland is served by trams travelling north only; the matching stop for the other direction is Trinity, some 130 m away, so a passenger waiting on the wrong one will wait a long time. South of here the two tracks of the pair come back together and the trams swing around College Green on their way out of town. The Red Line is a separate walk rather than a change of platform: Abbey Street is about 250 m off across the river, roughly four minutes on foot.
