The Gallops Luas stop
Luas Green Line · An Eachrais
About The Gallops
The Gallops is one of the stops added when the Green Line was lengthened southwards in 2010, and its name is second-hand twice over: it was taken from the housing estate built beside it in the 1990s, which had itself been named for its position near Leopardstown Racecourse. The stop is the one to use for the village of Stepaside, which lies a walk away rather than at the platforms.
Like most of this part of the line it sits at the side of Ballyogan Road. South of the platforms the track continues in reserved formation next to the road; north of them it curves away to run along Murphystown Way towards Glencairn. The Irish name is An Eachrais, and Leopardstown Valley is the following call outbound.

Frequently asked questions
From the housing estate built next to the stop in the 1990s, which took its own name from its position near Leopardstown Racecourse. The stop was named after the estate rather than directly after the racecourse.
Stepaside. The platforms are not in the village itself but on Ballyogan Road, with the line running in reserved track beside the road to the south and curving off along Murphystown Way to the north, so reaching the village means a walk from the stop.
