Hansfield train station
Western Commuter · Páirc Hans · Dublin
About Hansfield
Hansfield is the station that was finished before anyone could reach it. Fingal County Council planned it as part of the Hansfield Strategic Development Zone, and the railway through it opened on schedule in September 2010 — but there was no road from the surrounding estates to the platforms, so trains ran past a complete and unusable station for nearly three years. Funding for the access road came in 2011, Iarnród Éireann took possession of the land, and it finally opened on Friday 28 June 2013.
It now serves a wide spread of housing — Hansfield, Ongar, Littlepace and Barnwell among others — and is the nearest station to Clonee. Around 47 trains call on a weekday, and a peak journey to Docklands takes about 39 minutes. Direct trains to Clonsilla, Dunboyne and M3 Parkway run seven days a week; for the city centre outside peak hours, passengers change at Clonsilla. The Irish name is Páirc Hans.

What is near Hansfield
This is a station among housing estates, built at the same time as most of what surrounds it, with Ongar, Littlepace and Barnwell within walking distance and Clonee a little beyond. Within about a kilometre are Saint Joseph’s Hospital at roughly 630 m, Mrs Behan’s Garden at around 690 m and the Shackleton Garden at about 850 m. There is no park-and-ride here and no cycle shelter, so almost everyone arrives on foot from the estates the station was built to serve.
