Kishoge train station
South Western Commuter · An Chiseog · Dublin
About Kishoge
Kishoge has the strangest record of any station on the network: it was essentially finished in 2009 and did not see a passenger until 26 August 2024. It was built as part of the Kildare Route Project, the scheme that four-tracked the line out of Dublin Heuston, and then stood complete and closed for fifteen years while the housing it was meant to serve caught up with it.
The development it takes its name from is sometimes written Kishogue, and the station sits on Grange Castle Road in Dublin 22. Its Irish name is An Chiseog. Trains calling here are the South Western Commuter services between the city and the Kildare stations; Adamstown and Clondalkin and Fonthill are both under three minutes away on either side.

What is near Kishoge
This is a station among new housing in Dublin 22, off Grange Castle Road, with the business park and industrial estates of the western fringe not far away. There is no town centre at the gate and nothing of note within a kilometre of the platforms, which is a fair reflection of why the station waited so long to open: it was built for an area that had not yet been finished. Almost everyone arrives on foot or by bicycle from the estates around it.
Frequently asked questions
The station was largely built by 2009 as part of the Kildare Route Project, but the housing development it was intended to serve had not been completed, so there was no demand to justify stopping trains. It finally opened to passengers on 26 August 2024.
Both spellings appear. The housing development is written Kishoge and sometimes Kishogue, and the station takes the first form. In Irish it is An Chiseog.
