About Stillorgan
There is a trap in the name. The Harcourt Street railway did have a station called Stillorgan, but it was not here: that site is 450 m further down the line and is now the Sandyford stop. When the Green Line was laid out, the stop that took the Stillorgan name was a new one, placed between Blackthorn Avenue and the Stillorgan reservoir at the intersection with St. Raphaela’s Road, to serve the suburban area the old station had been too far from.
It is a plain piece of work — two edge platforms of the modular pattern used at many of the stops on the original Luas route, reachable from either of the adjacent roads. Its Park and Ride, with 341 spaces, is shared with Sandyford; the car park lies between the two stops and has entrances to both, so some of its spaces are nearer the other set of platforms than these. South of here the line follows the old railway alignment along the side of the reservoir; north of here it crosses the road and runs on towards Kilmacud. The Irish form of the name is Stigh Lorgan.

What is near Stillorgan
The reservoir is the defining neighbour, filling the land on one side of the line and keeping development off it. RCSI Reservoir House stands about 90 m from the platforms and is the only named building within easy reach. Otherwise this is a stop between things: suburban housing on the St. Raphaela’s Road side, Blackthorn Avenue and the business district beyond it to the south, and the car park shared with Sandyford further down the line.

Frequently asked questions
No. The railway’s Stillorgan station stood 450 m further along the line, and that site is now occupied by the Sandyford Luas stop. The stop that carries the Stillorgan name today was built as a new one between Blackthorn Avenue and the reservoir.
One facility of 341 spaces was built to serve both. It sits between the two stops and has entrances to each, with some of its spaces physically closer to the Sandyford platforms than to these ones. Drivers can use it for either.
