Central Park arrived with the 2010 extension that carried the Green Line on beyond Sandyford, and it takes its name from the business park it was built to serve. The two entrances tell you what it is for: the northbound platform opens directly onto a public plaza in the middle of the business park, while a path built for the purpose runs from the southbound platform to an unnamed road leading to Leopardstown Park Hospital on the other side of the line.

It is also one of the more engineered pieces of the extension. South of the platforms the line climbs, runs past the business park’s car park on a viaduct and then uses that viaduct to cross the M50 motorway. To the north it cuts through the business park on its own right of way, takes a road junction on a curved viaduct, runs alongside Burton Hall Road, crosses it and swings onto the side of Blackthorn Avenue to reach Sandyford. Leopardstown Racecourse and Kilmacud Crokes GAA are both within walking distance. Glencairn is the first call on the far side of the motorway.

What is near Central Park

Office workers make up most of the traffic, since the plaza the northbound platform opens onto is at the centre of the business park itself. Leopardstown Park Hospital is the other main draw, about 140 m away and reached by the purpose-built path from the opposite platform. There is no car park and no cycle parking here, and the racecourse and the GAA grounds are both a walk rather than a step away.

Frequently asked questions

It carries the line over the M50 motorway. The track climbs away from the platforms, runs past the business park’s car park on the structure and then crosses the motorway on it, which is why the stop feels as though it sits at the bottom of a slope in that direction.

Leopardstown Park Hospital, about 140 m from the platforms on the opposite side of the line from the business park. A path was built specially to connect the southbound platform to the unnamed access road that leads to it.

Central Park is a Luas tram stop on the Luas Green Line. Dublin has no metro and no underground railway: the Luas runs on the street. The nearest railway stations are a separate walk.
On a Monday to Thursday the first departure from Central Park is about 05:46 and the last about 01:04, depending on line and direction. Saturday and Sunday start later. Nothing in Dublin runs through the night. The table above gives every line and direction separately.
