About Woodbrook
Woodbrook is the newest station on the whole network, with its first trains on 10 August 2025 after construction began in November 2023. It is not, strictly, a new name on the line. Woodbrook Halt opened in 1910 a short distance away, a small stop on the Dublin and South Eastern Railway that served Sir Stanley Cochrane’s estate and, above all, his cricket ground; the golf club and the cricket grounds used it between 1920 and 1960. The halt sat just north of the junction where the coastal line and the Harcourt Street line parted, so it took trains off both.
Geography moved it once already. In 1915 the stretch between Killiney and Bray was pushed inland because of coastal erosion, taking Shanganagh Junction and the halt with it. Woodbrook outlived the closure of the Harcourt Street line on 31 December 1958 but shut in January 1960, after which its buildings were demolished and the platforms grew over. Planning permission for the present station was granted in July 2021; its remains still lie along the line at Woodbrook Golf Club, close to but unconnected with the new platforms.

What is near Woodbrook
The station was built for housing that is still filling in around it, on the Shanganagh side of the boundary with Bray, and the walk out to the Dublin Road takes about ten minutes. Within roughly a kilometre are Shanganagh Park, about 570 m away, and Woodbrook College at around 950 m. The golf club that gave the place its name runs along the seaward side of the line, and the coast path towards Bray is close by.
